What is it?
This is a table, created by AfC, of the adjustments that have been made for a student with additional support needs. It groups adjustments under:
- Mobility
- Personal care
- Visual impairment
- Sensory sensitivity
- Access to the curriculum
- Medical needs
- Hearing and speech
Why might it be of interest?
The term reasonable adjustments is probably one we are all familiar with but don’t really know exactly what it means! And that’s not surprising as there isn’t any definition of what a reasonable adjustment is. It is very dependent on the needs of an individual which may well change over time. And what might be a reasonable adjustment in one setting might not be reasonable to expect in another.
As such, it can be very difficult to know what adjustments you can ask for that will make the difference needed and be considered reasonable enough to be made.
This list of examples from AfC might help you think about what your young person needs.
