About our Workshops
We run regular face to face and online workshops with expert speakers, for parents of Disabled young people. We also run more informal sessions with our Ruils staff, at the Ruils offices in Teddington.
Our workshops, which are run in Richmond and Hounslow boroughs by our Family Matters, SEND Advice and Bright Futures services, aim to provide parents and carers with information, practical strategies and support on a variety of subjects.
We cover anything from behavioural challenges, navigating the SEND legal system and health and social care pathways to supporting mental health and anxiety in our young people. We always welcome input from our clients on the subjects that would be most helpful.
Workshops are charged at £5 per parents or carer or £10 for professionals. All funds raised from the workshops will go towards hiring high quality speakers and appropriate venues for future sessions.
Our informal sessions – SEND Advice Sessions and Bright Futures @Home – are free of charge.

SEND Reforms White Paper: What does this mean for parents and young people?

In this session, we will:
- highlight what parents need to know right now
- address any misconceptions
- explain how parents can take part in the consultation process and ensure their voices are heard
- create space for an open Q&A so you can ask questions and share your thoughts
Bright Futures workshop: Friendships and relationships
Date: Tuesday 21 April 2026
Time: 10am-1pm
Location: DAAC, 4 Waldegrave Road, Teddington
This session will cover how we can support our young people in healthy friendships and closer relationships
This workshop is charged at £5 per parent/carer and £10 per professional
Family Matters: Exploring Gender Diversity and Neurodivergence
Date: Wednesday 29 April 2026
Time: 10.30am-12.30pm
Location: DAAC, 4 Waldegrave Road, Teddington
This welcoming session is aimed at parents and carers in Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow boroughs who may be raising an LGBTQ+ child or young person. During the session we will look at understanding more about LGBTQ+ histories and will:
- Go through relevant terminology
- Explore the overlap between SEND/ neurodivergence and LGBTQ+
- Discuss and share how to be supportive and inclusive
Bright Futures @Home: Scams - how to protect our young people
Date: Thursday 14 May 2026
Time: 11am-1pm
Location: DAAC, 4 Waldegrave Road, Teddington
Beth Burls from Trading Standards will be talking about scams and how we can support our young people to be safe
