About this role
The Community Connector volunteer will work as part of our Core20Plus health inequalities project. This NHS SWL Integrated Care Board funded initiative focuses on prevention and early identification of long-term health conditions for those living in socially deprived areas of South West London.
Ruils as the Richmond Borough NHS partner, deliver health checks, advice, signposting, and through our volunteer team, befriending, 1-2-1 walks, and community group activities.
What we are looking for
We are specifically searching for volunteer Community Connectors that live in or around our targeted localities where health inequality is most pronounced in the Borough. That is, Hampton North, Ham & Petersham, Heathfield/Whitton, and Barnes North. We would like to draw your own knowledge, experiences and insight of the social and health challenges that are faced by residents living in these areas.
What will I be doing?
You will be:
- Carrying out surveys to help us gain a deeper understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of local residents to inform our service delivery, and feedback into the NHS Core20Plus project, and Richmond Council to help inform their decision making and resource allocation
- Supporting us to recruit volunteers to deliver our befriending, 1-2-1 walks, and community group activities through your own local connections and knowledge
- Supporting us with introductions to local residents or groups representing local residents that will further our understanding of local needs, and views on potential health and wellbeing solutions
- Supporting Ruils representation at our quarterly resident outreach events at local community and social centres where we provide health checks, advice, signposting, and service referrals
How will Ruils support you?
We will provide you with onboarding training, safeguarding training and ongoing support throughout your time volunteering with us. This includes regular check ins over the phone and in person support sessions and trainings open to all volunteers.
