Why might it be of interest?

It can be quite daunting knowing where to start to look for a post 18 or 19 placement and I think it can be helpful to know where local students have gone on to.

Researching options on the natspec website: https://natspec.org.uk/ can help your research, especially if you are looking further afield than local colleges.

Specialist Colleges attended by young people from LB Richmond and RB Kingston

I have added a little bit more information about each college – from the college website:

  • Age range – all go up to 25 but start at different ages
  • Location
  • Disabilities supported – some are very specific, others are more pan disability
  • Day and/or residential placements – for all practical purposes a day placement may not be possible for many of the colleges on this list because they are too far away
  • EHCP – some specify the need for an EHCP, others do not
  • Specialism – most offer a broad and general curriculum with pathways at multiple levels and a range of options but some are specialised – these will, generally, not be suitable unless the young person has a specific need or interest in the specialist area
