What is it?
You can download this guide as a pdf or word document. It is, as it says on the cover, a guide to additional support in higher education. It’s a long document but it covers a lot of ground and includes experiences from students with disabilities and medical needs.
Why might it be of interest?
There’s a lot for any young person to consider before going to university but if you have additional learning needs or health needs there’s even more for you to think about. This resource covers from when you are making your application via UCAS, to funding, to disability support services, disabled students’ allowance, etc.
We have further documents about going to university, one written by a parent with her experience of her young person going to uni – but it’s good to read up and get as much information as you can from the time you are thinking about uni and making your UCAS application.
This is a long document but it’s easy reading and broken up into relevant sections so you can dip in and out as you go along.
