Trustees Standing for Re-election

Sian Bates MBE
Ruils Trustee
Sian has over 20 years’ experience of working at board level in the public sector particularly in Health, Training and Education. As Chairman of Kingston Hospital and Hounslow & Richmond Community Trust, she provided leadership to two skilled Boards and extraordinary staff, giving her the opportunity to fully understand the critical role of health, social care and voluntary services in supporting the health and well-being of local people. She is highly motivated and inspired by working with staff and in partnerships with clients and organisations to deliver quality services. Prior to her career in Health, Sian established the first Training & Enterprise Council in London and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her service to Education and Training. Sian is passionate about making a difference in her local community. Since joining Ruils Sian has become Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Personnel Committee. She is also a member of the finance and strategy committee and taken an active role in fund raising as one of the Ruils Champions.

Mary Harrison
Ruils Trustee
Prior to joining Ruils as a Trustee, I worked for the NHS, in the charity sector and have volunteered in various roles. I am also an active member of the Richmond Coproduction Group. I discovered Ruils several years ago through Your Say and have been involved with the “Bridging the Gap” project, a mental health resource and signposting guide.
Since becoming a Trustee at Ruils in 2022 I have worked with Richmond Council and other key stakeholders to ensure that the voices of deaf and disabled residents are heard throughout these organizations. I chaired both user forums Your Say and the Transport and Mobility Forum for 18 months. During this time, we ran a number of successful campaigns which have brought about real and meaningful change for our clients. It is very important to me as a Trustee that the voice of our clients is heard at board meetings. I have been involved in the social housing project “Decaying Homes, Forgotten Lives” which is made up voluntary sector organizations coming working together to improve how the two largest providers deal with vulnerable residents.
I am delighted to use my knowledge and experience to enable Ruils to continue to deliver person centered services and activities to all client groups.

Jenny Cooper
Ruils Trustee
Jenny has had a long-standing career as a marketing professional, mainly within the financial services sector. In more recent years, keen to make a difference within her local community, she worked as a volunteer supporting children with special education needs, and their families. Jenny subsequently went on to take a role as the Executive Director of local charity, ADHD Embrace and is now the Managing Director of Home-Start Wandsworth. She has a special interest in neurodiversity being a parent of two neurodivergent children herself and so recognises the struggles many families face in getting the right support for their young people. Jenny lives in Teddington.

Amanda Winterburn
Ruils Trustee
Amanda owned and ran a successful preschool where she was responsible for all aspects of the business. Having become a wheelchair user herself, Amanda is passionate about equipping people with the knowledge they require to shape their own lives by passing on the knowledge she has gained through personal experience. Amanda has been running the Ruils Schools Disability programme for many years, is an active member of the Transport and Mobility Forum and Your Say our community involvement group.
